last 3 weeks to go.

I write the title and my heart is already so heavy. I still have three weeks to go back home. Three weeks sounds like a long time, it totally isn't. Specially after the last 10 months running so fast behind me.

I'm really sorry for not writting for forever! I was just lazy :)

There is a feed back of the things I have done since the last months!

1) I was in Paris last weekend. Oh yes yes:D. I was. It was a dream come true!

2) I was in Amsterdam with my family.

3) Went to museums, castles with my 3rd family.

4) Abhishek Vyas ( an indian school friend) and his family came and visited me in Köln in Germany. It was like being home for a day :)

5) Had a indian cook out day with friends. I made butter chicken and it was really delicious!

6) We live clsoe to Cologne. Thats the reason I never really went to Cologne being a tourist. So last week, I decided to be a tourist in Cologne with two of my exchange friends and spoke English the whole day just for fun :P

7) Went to a huge amusement park with some friends. It was a christmas gift from my third host family.

8) Celebrated our farewell with all exchange students. That was really really sad. And difficult!

9) Did my Rotary presentation wearing a sari about the whole year in Germany and telling them about India.

10) And so many things.

I have many things to look forward too. F.I.F.A topping the list ;). Germany has a really good team. GOOO DEUTSCHLANDDDD:D.

I would try my best to write. This time, this year is just perfect. I wouldn't trade it for anything! EVER.

Love and Peace

Spring is here!

I remember writting how happy I was about the snow. But really,I have had enough of snow now. I was so happy after seeing the sun shine for 3 hours the other day. And now its the best, half the day is passed and we still have the sun shinning. I love sun. I can't wait for the pretty spring to come and the place to be filled with all coloured flowers :)

So, updating here and there.

My painting class is going great! I completed my first picture. And half done with the second. I'm so glad my host parents gifted me that for christmas, because I learn so many new things.

My dad had birthday. And I skyped with my whole family (including a exchange student called Hannah from Germany who we are currently hosting.) They cut the cake in front of me and my parents were like, 'Vedashree open your mouth.' I love technology!

I missed my favourite indian festival called Holi. I was pretty sad that day,but then hell yeah! I had karneval this year ;)

I'm going to this Jewelry making workshop with I'm excited about!

We have a new exchange student in my school from Columbia.

Oh! And I haven't done sports for many days, and thats the reason I have a small tommy now =/. I'm becoming fat!

I'm living each day. I love it here. I perfectly love it. I don't even realise when the week goes by,and when the weekend come. I don't want time to move this fast!
STOP.

CARNEVAL!

I'm so sorry about not writting my best days in Germany. Carneval was one thing I was told about right from the start. Everyone was like,' You would love it.' And love is an understatement!

Firstly. Carneval means people with colourful clothes, a lot of beer, parties, and candies :D. I'm not kidding! It is celebrated only in the area around Cologne. And I lucky stay around Cologne so I got to celebrate it this big! :D

Day one : This was the major party day in my school. I entered the school and everyone was wearing different customs. It was awesome to see! All sorts of colours,so much life! Every class had to come up with some sort of dance performance, which I of course did with my class. I danced on this Bollywood song with my class called, 'Pappuu can't dance'. We practised around 3 times before the main performance. But the important part is we had fun! And also, Erandy (Mexico), me (India) and Signe (America) decided to do a little "Tricultural Dance". (Sorry if it doesn't work, one of the other Americans posted it and it doesn't work in Germany. ). The three of us wore cultural outfits, too (as Karneval is a time for costumes). So I wore a Indian dandiya dress, Erandy wore traditional Mexican garb, and Signe wore a cowboy dress. Oh, and if you're friends with me on Facebook, you can also see it there. Anyway, we all had our little pieces of cultural dance. Signe selected American song, Baby Got Back by Sir Mix-A-Lot.I chose Jai Ho (from the Slumdog Millionaire soundtrack,) and Erandy did the Macarena. We were the last to perform -- and apparently they all LOVED it! We were even called back to do it again. It was amazing performing in front of so many people, and the atmosphere was wild. I'll try and post the video here.

Day 2: This day, didn't really bring much because we all wanted to go to the disco. And there is only one disco around where we stay( Steffis) and they didn't allow us to go inside. Just because we aren't Germans. And we had to show our passport to get inside. And ofcourse we can't stupid to carry passports to discos. Or ya,we just went to a bar and hanged around there :)

Day3 : Which was awesomeeee! I went to see a parade with my host mom, host dad and Rike. We met my fellow Brazialian exchange student there. It was cold as hell, and it was kind of snowing. My host mom was smart my telling us to not wear our Karneval 's customs^^. We went to see street Karneval. Which is like a parade which takes place, with a lot of people all wonderfully dressed. My host sister(Line) was also a part of the parade and she was dressed as a possible woman. So as this parade passes people in the parade throw all types of food at the people watching them. They throw chocolates, chips, candies, flowers. People who are talking with the parade give alchohol. And you know the coolest part? The small boy next to me,got a football! I mean a real football! There are also bands in the parade. A lot music, people had so much energy in them. Ofcourse, we collected a lot of things. But it was insane the number of things there were throwing! I mean it was snowing and thats the reason many of the stuff was falling in snow, and people weren't picking it up.(Something which will never happen in India ;) ). But all in all a great thing to see!
Then we all came home. Signe came over, we got ready together. I was wearing German dirndl (dress thingy) . I also braided her hair and with her sparkly makeup :). Signe wore like Barbie doll clothes. She looked adorable! Then we got to the party (which was surprisingly free), and immediately realized that it was PACKED. I'm talking, you can hardly move two inches without hitting someone. Anyway, we found friends fairly quickly, despite so many people being there. It was fun -- the music was so loud that one couldn't speak and be heard, so all there was to do was dance. We stayed fairly late, and finally went back to my house with a taxi. And then crashed. Around six hours at such a party is pretty much exhausting.

Day 3: I didn't go much, other then staying around the house and resting. :)

Day 4: I went with my host mom and host sister to celebrate street Carneval. We saw the parade, and later because we were standing around 3 hours in the same place my legs started freezing. So we went home :)
We again had a party. This time I wrote like a Brasilian dancer 's feathers on the head, and a black dress I had from home. I also had fake eyelashes and for the first time ever I actually had eyelashes which were seen ;). It was awesome fun. We were there partying all night, then we came home and crashed.

Maybe this post isn't that interesting to read. But Carneval is the best thing in my whole Germany stay. I had so much fun! The place was full of life, so full of colours. And Germany isn't always like this. I saw some really crazy Germans during Karneval too. People were drunk at around 4 in the afternoon. It was funny! Carneval was also a great time to make better friends.
Plus it leaves me with the popularity in school ;). I got into my bus after 5 days of carneval and this little boy came in front of me and did the same dance :D.

PS: I'm sorry about writting Karneval with 'K' and with 'C',but its confusing because its with a 'K' in German and with a 'C' in English.
Love and peace.

Take care all you people!

Pune blast

Pune the city I live in had a bomb blast. Pretty closeby to where I live. I was more then scared, speech less once I read about it. But it was Karneval the last couple of days. I ofcourse did celebrate it my best. I had time to sit online and read to after 6 days. I read the news. I saw the number of dead people. It was first 6. Now its 10. This girl, who was 18 years old was the one I just read before I decided to write this post. I saw her age,and was pretty sure she would be on facebook. I just looked up her profile and saw her introduction. Which I'm going to share with everyone who reads this.

'i am 18 years old. and i try to enjoy every bit of life.i believe that the small things in life can give us the most happiness.lyk when my frnd tells me that i am the one with whom s/he can share everything.. i am the happiest person on earth. i dont like people who are not honest.funny people appeal to me.i feel that though ihave a hell lot of friends, i dont have a buddy who is completely mine..sometimes when i need someone to share my secrets or when i want to lay my head on a strong shoulder and wanna cry or want a warm hand to hold me ..i feel im alone. i beleive in being a beautiful and strong woman who will make heads turn and eyes look up. i am my own princess and i need a prince who needs me!'

I had tears. I didn't even know her. I can't imagine what her family and friends are going though. The blast was in a German bakery. A very common place for students to hang out. 10 dead, so many injuried. Why are people doing this? Why is always killing the end? Is killing the only way to show they have more power?

Anindyee Dhar was just one person I wrote about. 9 other such cases. I feel so powerless. So helpess. All I can do is write this? All I can do is pray that it shouldn't happen again? This should end somewhere.

Gog bless all these souls.

Peace.

Kindergarten as days went by^^

I was kind of scared at the starting. I thought they wouldn't understand my German. But my first few days were full with variety of reactions ;). Some of them were scared, because of the green colour, some of them were amused. I this favourite kid right on the first day. She came to me and just sat on my lap. And from then it was the same till the last day :). Where as some children, just gave negative reactions. I was asked a billion of funny questions like , 'Why do you talk so funny?' , 'Your mother didn't yell at you for having black and green hair?' I have like around three piercing in my ear,I wore all the three earnings, and this girl started crying because she wanted it too and her mother didn't allow :). I was talking to this boy from my school, and I looked down and this little kid was like ,' You are married to him? ' I was like 'No,Why?' And he goes like, 'then why did you ask him if he has eaten?'

To my surprise they understood my german better then the adults. Maybe because they don't know german themselves ;). But I couldn't use English words at all. So I had to be very careful to not use words like 'Run, stop, don't' what we normally use for talking to children. All I that to do the whole day was play with them. But trust me,its as difficult as a teacher. If you don't listen to them, they are angry. And each child has something to say. Oh so one of my first weeks, this boy came to be and said something. Something I didn't understand. Then he kept saying it the WHOLE time, but I just didn't know what it means in German. And then he was angry because I didn't listen to him,but I really was. And ofcourse as you have good experiences you always have bad ones too. I did have some bad ones too. Children are straight forward, maybe thats one of the best things I like about them. If they like you,or a game or something they will show it. And if they don't they will show it too. I even read out stories to them. They loved playing 'hair styling' games with my hair. Oh. And maximum what I did was art and craft things. I did a lot of painting and making things from paper like a bird or something.

I also danced with them. Like everyday the same dance. It was so much fun! And teachers were also really nice. I wasn't well for 3 days and they made me tea and things. The best part I like about children is their imagination skills. We can't think like they do. I was sitting in one place and they made that place a circus, then they made it a road with a police man and one child being a car, and the next minute it was a zoo. And they had days in which they would just imagine they are animals and talk in just noises. But you have to understand them :). And its a skill being a teacher at a kindergarten I think. The teacher would just take a name and say, go to the toilet and that kid really wanted to go to the toilet but because he was playing he didnt want to. And I always wondered how they understood. But at the end of the 3 weeks,at my second last day I told this child to go to the toilet too and he did :D. You have to notice their movements. And thats how you know.

There were many differences between Indian and German kindergartens. Each child has around 3 shoes, one for playing, one for the kindergarten and one for going out. Normally indian kids wouldn't ask,' Can I play with you?' They just think they are games for everyone and everyone is supposed to play with them. But here if the kid doesn't want you to play with him, you shouldn't. They have really good eating habits, and are neat children.
This one time we were going out in snow, and I had to help my group children dress up. Each child should have 3 jackets, a snow pant, boots, shawl and a cap. And trust me people. This is real WORK! I did it for around 7 children and the last one I just zipped his pants and he said,' I want to go to the toilet.' I was about to say just do it in your pants ;). But then that would be even more work! They were really small children,so we had to do almost everything. But the thing that amused me the most was. After we came in from snow, I helped them remove their clothes again. And mark my words, each and every child when and put his clothes where they were. AAt such a small age they are taught to take care of their own things. Something I should learn, even now :D.

My last day they gave me a little farewell. I got the best gifts. I got around 8 paintings drawn by them. They are so cute. This one drawing is little random grey coloured lines. And I asked him what it was,and he said its a luck pig :). And these two little craft things. We played games, and I baked muffins for them.

It was amazing how fast the time went by. But one thing remained the same. My first week, these two children asked me what my name was. I answered 'Ved'. Second week again the same kids same question same answer. And the third week the question changed a little ;). They asked me, 'Ved what is your name again' :D

Its awesome that I did the practical. I'm sure I wouldn't ever learn things like, 'Can you please remove my pant button?' in German in my whole year stay;)

And now. Back to school.
Love.

Kindergarten^^

Germany has this cool system in the school in which all the 11th class people have to do a social practical. This practical is for around 3 weeks,in which students have to visit places like old age home, mentally challenged people 's hospitals, hospitals, kindergarten etc. And as the title says, I did my practical in a kindergarten :).

I have always loved children. And thats the reason I wanted to do this practical. The other exchange students had to go to the 10th class for the three weeks we did this. That does mean we didn't have school for three weeks :D. I thought being in a kindergarten would be easy. Just play with children the whole time and thats good. But hehe.. I was so wrong :).

I went to a Kindergarten closeby in Gimmingen. The kindergarten system is totally different compared to India. We have kindergartens in the school. Even in the kindergartens children have to wear school uniforms, because the school just wants them to get used to it. I had children from 2-5 age. The five year old children would have a 'school group' every Mondays for around 1 and a half hour. In this hour the teacher would teach them a little math, Alpahets or school related things. Other then that the whole time was just playing :). Ofcourse the playing factor reminds same in India too!

The kindergarten had 3 groups. Red, green group and a group for mentally challenged children. I had two boys from my school who did the practical at the same place with me. We were all divided into groups and I was in the green group. We had around 20 children with 2 teachers. Other teachers would come in the afternoon time. I had to be there from eight in the morning to four EVERYDAY,for three weeks.

All though the mornings the children would generallypla around the gym room. Well I don't really know the English translation for the german word,I'm sorry :P. But its a room for playing in short. Wait. I first need to describe the place. The kindergarten was full of colours. As you enter there was a passage, after which once you look left there was a playing room. I bet the children would think its HUGE or something. It was similar with me,when I was young I would think my play ground is the biggest place in the world, but now that I see it,its so small. The playing room had these colourful all shaped blocks made up of cotton. Children would make a house,or whatever they wanted with them. So note: They had to change their shoes before entering this room. They had to put on the playing shoes. At the right was like a pretty big space, attached to the kitchen. In the middle of this big space was a little house with was full of colourful little balls, and the children had to jump in them. And everytime the children jumped,I felt like jumping in myself :). Surrounded by this ball house were two rocking horses. I had one too when I was small :D. And there was also a 'breakfast table'. Attached to this were a bunch of rooms, and two of them were also the doors to get into the green and red groups. The green group room (the one I was in) had craft made my children all over the place, again a breakfast table. And two other tables, one of them always had a plastic on it so children can play with clay,or paint things on it. And there was also a COMPUTER. I was more then surprised to see a computer there, but the teachers told us that once it was new everyone wanted to place with it,and now that its old not many want to. And the kindergarten had ALL types of games possible. They had this little kitchen with plastic plates, and oven, food things. One corner was full of clothes, a mirror and a small bed. All types of games from card games, board games, cars, tracks, railways there had everything! There always was light coming in the room as one side was totally glass. And on the wall was everyone 's photos, and their birth dates. It was amazing to see people born in 2007 and things. It like Oh god! I went for this new year party and thats when he was born ^^. It was such a awesome feeling.
There was a room for teachers, a storage room. And Oh god! The toilets for children were adorable. The wash basin were really small,so children could reach them. And so were the toilets.

And this is about the place. The next post is about me and them :)

Czech Republic

I feel so awesomely lucky to have country names while writtting my blog posts. So yes. As the title says I did go to Czech Republic :D.

My host dad has this office in which they make advertises for people, places. I don't really know the details. But his office has all the nice things that interest me: Photography, graphic designers etc. So that how it started. Thats how it was planned :). He was going with his bunch of models and photographers to Czech. And so I went along. I get to see the new
place, plus get to learn a bit about photography and plus all the fun that comes with it. I would be stupid if I didn't go!

We were set to go to Marino Limpno in Czech Republic :)

My excitement usually at a high level when my phone gets welcome messages. It was a 6-7 hour drive. We left on a Friday. We were total seven people including me. Dominik Ketz , Olaf, Sally, Maren, Rike, Erek. Dominik was the photographer. He was the actual professional photographer, the ones with BIG lens! Olaf and Sally were married from 3 years or something. One of the cutest couples I have seen till date. The ever smiling one :). Maren was around 13 years old,but no one could say that. She looked around 17 and would talk all the time. She was really pretty though. Rike is my sweet sisterrr:D. And Erek. Hheheh.. :P. Yes. My host dad. The best entertainment for everyone on the trip.

We reached really late at night. And next day around 8 were woken up for breakfast. The days were packed and totally well planned. And they carried the light sheet and things. I went like walking with such stars ;). It was a work shooting after all. The first day they took pictures of all models in snow. Then we ice skated. It was awesome! This HUGE sea was all FROZEN. Like totally. And then we ice skated on it! Like imagine I can proudly now tell people I ice skated on a sea ;) . Imagine ice skating on this sea with like forest around. But the forests were on hills,so we could like see it. And the forest trees were the ones I have never seen in my entire life. They were huge size christmas trees. I have no clue what they are called. The food all time was great. We always ate in outside, and usually quick. I can hardly remember how fast the first day went. It was super fast and trying.
The second day was great too! After breakfast we went to this forest. And it was the prettiest thing I have ever seen! The christmas trees looking like trees were totally covered in snow. But not only that the little leaves looked like small needles, and these needles were ice. And HUGE trees. And everything white. It was so very beautiful! Ofcourse I have to mention I was given these shoes to walk on the snow, and they are big so one can balance and not go deep in the snow. But it was almost impossible to walk with them. And the others had to smile while Dominik was taking pictures. Wait. I didn't mention. All the models were really natural and you didn't really have to tell them to smile. And it was great seeing Dominik work. He didn't say much but he totally captured it at the right moment.

Czech Republic has a funny language with a different currency. The place was pretty cool, filled of all types of winter sports. I didn't really talk to any of those people, so don't know how they are. But I'm glad I got a chance to see that place.

I was basically just trying to help and being around while they were working. I could also help them smile if they needed it :D. And plus me and my host dad are usually a good entertainment team. The car journeys were always full of laughter and great music!

And well. I do have some photos of me taken for fun :D. I will post them as soon as I get them ! It was such a total amazingly fun trip. I can always go back with the same people :).

Hip Hip Hurraa! Alles ist super. Alles ist wunderbarrr!
= Hip hip hurrreeyy! Everything is superb. Everything is wonderful.

Tuesday, January 26, 2010

Today is the 26th January.

60th Republic celebration today. Schools must be having half days. Flag hosting must have already taken place. There must be people selling flags on the roads. Televisions must be playing patrotic movies. I sadly can't really take part in any of the above mentioned things. But I share a proud moment with myself. I got up and sang our national anthem in front of the flag. But thats not it. I decided that I have to write this note today!

My host mom in Germany goes to a yoga class. She is sporty by nature. I asked her why she was doing yoga. She told me that she has played so many games but not many games make her think from inside. Get her close to her own self and god. It costs her 50€ in two months. Which is a lot of money!

The other day she asked me how to make 'ghee'. I was more then surprised! How does she even know the name? Where did she read it from? She then told me her yoga teacher is doing a course about 'ayurvedic cooking'. And they generally don't use oil but use ghee instead. Which again costs the yoga teacher a lot of money!

They call eyeliner in Germany 'kaayal'. They actually written as 'kaajal' too but in German the 'j' is pronounced as 'y'. They call 'shawl' shawl.

I meet new people almost everyday. Most of the girls here find my piercings cool. " Its so awesome that you have a nose pierced. Many of the parents here don't allow." I tell them how its a tradition to have piercing. I told them my grandmom has around 6 ear piercings on each ear,and a nose piercing. They always think India is the coolest place then.
So, since I'm talking about meeting new people everyday. They hear my German. Say I'm pretty good. Then they figure that I speak English too(because my german still isn't all THAT great, I need some English words.) Then they always have big eyes and ask," So you speak 3 languages?". And I always proudly answer," No four. I speak two Indian languages- Hindi and Marathi ."

I met this man here who has been to India 8 times. He knew names of the small temples and villages way better then I knew. He told me that 'India is addictive.' I smiled.

I wouldn't ever realise how important Indian culture is till the time I wouldn't come here. Think about it wikipedia says, 'Individual mother tongues in India number several hundred'. Which country can have around 330 million(33 crores) of gods but still never really have fights about them? Mostly all my friends worship different gods, but there wasn't a single arguement about it. My best friend comes from South of India. She always speak 'Tulu' with her mom and all I do is laugh, I don't understand a thing. But she is still my best friend. Language wasn't even a problem.

We often have these discussions with people that they want to know why I came to Germany. I always first say the language, because for me I know its going to be an advantage learning German for my future. My host dad said the other day," Maybe in the future the western world has to learn Hindi ". Maybe they really have to in the future. Every 6th person in the world is Indian. I believe we do have the power. Even if now 70 Indian Rupees is 1 Euro maybe it would change.

We have poor people. Agreed. We aren't a rich country now. We are now ranked low in the list of developing countries. But we have hopes. Our culture is one of the most ancient one. The Brahmins from the old days didn't eat meat because they knew that in the future the whole world is going to,and so there has to be someone to save them. Thats what I read in a recent article. Maybe true, maybe not but it saves animals.

Imagine you are travelling alone somewhere in India. I sit here and I can predict there are going to be atleast two people who are going to come and ask you your name, and where you come from. We are known to be friendly. And that is true.

Oh! And guess what I realised some days ago? We can actually have a cultural exchange between India to India. From North to South, and Central. Each places has different food, clothes, festivals.

The only reason I'm writting this note is that I want everyone who reads it to be proud about being Indian. We want to be more western, but the western world is now paying so much to learn ancient indian things.

जय हिंद.

PS: I'm not trying to compare any countries. I do want world to be one place. I'm just showing my love for my country :).

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Frohes Neues Jahrrr :D

I celebrated my new year with a German friend and her friends. I was with Jaqueline Hemmers who was an exchange student last year to Argentina. Her boyfriend from Argentina is now here in Germany to visit her. It was great fun! We played karoke, ate good food , played uno. Marcos(Mexican exchangie) was also in the celebration. At 12 we went up to this little hill from which we would see the whole town. We saw many firecrackers. Drank a little and went inside again. It was more like a chill out then a party. But thats totally needed at time :)

This year. This year is going to be one of the best year of my life. I'm going to have never forgetting memories. I'm going to have German friends. I'm going to actually talk German now. I'm going to meet my friends and family from India after a year. This is the same year which is going to make me cry. Cry not because I'm sad,but with happiness.

And so I decided there are bunch of things I'm going to try doing:
1) Talk ONLY in German with Germans.
2) Do everything possible! Each and everyday should be worth something. Its not returning again :)
3) Write my blog more often. I need to store more memories :)
4) Write letters and send parcels at home. Letters don't cost me a lot of money. They ofcourse do cost me some money but letter from another land are always special. I still have all the letters my sister, Hanah and my dad sent me when they were away.
5) I need to be a little more Organised ^^. And a little more punctual^^.

Well these are the main ones. The others are not to be mentioned publicly ;). Any suggestions. Any thing you guys want me to improve on, you can always comment :).

Happy new year! I wish everyone a year full on extraaa big smiles. A mega ultra super dupperr fun!
Take care :)

26th December

The last Christmas day in Germany!

We again went to Grandmom 's house for breakfast everyone together. We had breakfast, talked with each other. Then me and Rike saw a dvd which Hanna had sent from US about her threatre play. After it was done both of us came home. I entered the door and my host parents told me my first host mom called. I was so happy. I ofcourse knew they wouldn't forget me but them calling up was still somehow not expected. I called back. My first host dad answered. He asked if I would like to come and celebrate Christmas with them. I was half jumping and said yess :)

My host parents dropped me to my first family 's house. I entered and everything was same, but it still seemed so new. They greeted me. They were all having lunch then. It was all the same. The same how it used to be. Only difference was my host sister(Thekla) was sitting on the place I used to normally sit and I was sitting on hers. I told them about my first actual Christmas. I told them about the Church. About everything. Then after eating my host sibling showed me what they got for Christmas. Their Christmas was huge. It was well decorated. With many small small wooden things. And under the tree was a gift. A gift addressed to me. I didn't expect myself to get a gift. And during such times when you get one its awesome feeling! I first opened what my host sibling gave. I was happy! Then I went to open the second gift. And that was something special something so very special! I was a scrapbook with pictures from my first three months in Germany. It considered of pictures from : First day, Weekend with Exchange students, Family vacations , Birthday, School Friends and the last page had pictures of German houses,my favourite German food. I hugged my host dad and he told me that my host mom was the one who made it. Really. If I could cry as much as many people in my age cry I would have cried then. It was the best thing ever!

Shoes, clothes and such things can't be with me all the time. But gifts like : Learning too paint, and a picture book and both things which will last with me for a really long. I'm lucky I have the best people around me.

Thank you everyone who made my first Christmas so very special :).

25th December: The family gets together:)

Germans celebrate Christmas for three days: 24th (Heiligabend), 25th (first Christmas day), 26th ( Second christmas day).

After getting ready in the morning my family decided to go for a walk. It was a lovely Christmas morning with cold wind and a little sunshine. We live in the country side. So we have all the farms and nature around us. Its very pretty. We walked around for sometime. Got ready and went to Oma(grandmom/aaji 's) 's house. She lives just a street away from us. They told me I was even going to meet the rest of the family today. In about sometime the rest of the family came in too. Elke 's sister(Bergit), her husband(Heinz) and their two children(Basti and Marie). We had lunch together. I always think that grandmothers are the best cooks. And I stick to that!:D. Then we chatted till the evening. And every sadly one of my host sisters had something wrong with her hand. So my host mom took her to the hospital. They were there for around three hours in which rest of the family was worried. Naturally, even I was. Christmas day and you never know if you have doctors available! But they did come after three hours. Told that it was nothing that serious. Then finally the whole family was together. I had told my host mom the previous day that I would like to dance indian for them. So my host mom asked me if I still want to do it. I said yes,and the next couple of minutes I found myself in my room wearing Indian clothes. I was dressed up for head to toe: Everything from tikli,to Kolapuries ;). I was about to enter granny 's house and I felt this feeling which I always did before stage performances :D. I went in and I felt in a super star! They took pictures of me,said I looked pretty and things like that. Yes yes. I was on cloud 9 already! But I told them before I dance I want everyone to sing Christmas songs. My host sister Line played the piano and the whole family sang along. I sang one of the songs too as I know it because I heard it everywhere during christmas. Then I danced on 'Jay Hoo' for them. Personally talking I didn't like my dance all that much because lack of practice. But they seemed to be more then happy. They took videos of me dancing! I love the feeling of being praised! Who does n't? Then everyone drank. We spoke about more things. Everything from Gandhiji to Hilter. Knowing so many opinions was fun. And during all the talking my indian music was still in the background !Then I asked them all if they want to dance on a indian song. I played 'Dhantadaan' and made them all dance! And everyone did! It was great great fun! Then the two couple did 'wallz'( German ball dance).

It was totally a fun day with the family. I couldn't ever imagine a German Family dancing on Indian songs during Christmas. World is a small place as someone rightly said :)
